This course aims to develop in students a high level of professional competence as teachers of the Montessori Method of Education to children from 2.5 to 6 years of age. It will give students a deep grounding in the Montessori Principle and Philosophy, basic understanding of child psychology, appreciation and understanding of the teaching aids developed by Dr. Montessori. They learn the knowledge of the Montessori environment and the role of a Montessori directress/director and Knowledge of the Montessori curriculum.

Students are assessed on their individual merits but must have obtained at least three GCE ‘O’ levels (or its equivalent). They must have a good standard of both written and spoken English. Students must be at least 17 years of age. Mature candidates aged 23 years and above will be considered on a case to case basis.

The modules are DMT 101 : Montessori Principal and Philosophy, DMT 102 : Child Development: The Early Years, Childcare, Health and Nutrition, DMT 103 : Curriculum: Mathematics, Language, Science, Art and Music, DMT 104 : Montessori Exercises of Practical Life, DMT 105 : Sensorial Education, DMT 106 : Language, Phonics and Grammer, DMT 107 : Mathematics, DMT 108 : Cultural Subjects: Geography, Botany, Zoology, History, DMT 109 : Teaching Practice.
