This course enables students to gain an adequate knowledge on identifying furniture styles/ categories, characteristics and grading of materials used in furniture production, basic processes of furniture production and coordination of appropriate colour scheme. This workshop offers intensive training in furniture product knowledge and use a vocational approach targeted at the furniture design and manufacturing industry retail workforce. It aims to arm students with ample knowledge on furniture contextual studies, material characteristics/ grading, production, maintenance and other factors of consideration so as to provide appropriate sales consultation to their customers. This course also increases the employability for the students as well as productivity within the respective companies. Participants may opt to pursue higher education through credit transfers that allow them accreditation into a Ministry of Education approved Diploma in Interior Design program at the Inspiration Design School.

Inspiration Design School (IDS) was set up in 1989 and has developed into Singapore’s premiere private provider of a wide range of design programs ranging from certificates, diploma, advanced diploma and degree level. IDS is Case Trusted, approved and recognized by the Ministry of Education and is recognized by international institutions and universities. IDS has constantly honed, developed and inspired students to challenge their creative abilities and become competent and dynamic designers in the near future. There are three design studio classrooms; namely Inspiration Studio, Animation Studio and Passion Studio. Student accommodation for each respective classroom is 25 students for Inspiration Studio Room, 16 students for Animation Studio Room and 15 students for Passion Studio Room. There is also a Creative Design Studio for research activities which can accommodate up to 18 students.
